Mr. Werner Slabbert Snr

Werner began his working career as a broadcast engineer at the SABC, and after a very successful career in the television industry, he changed direction after his personal holiday home fell into the hands of an unscrupulous timber frame builder. With an unfinished holiday home on his hands, he was forced to complete the job himself and learned everything he could about timber construction in order to do the job correctly. This marked the start of his journey into the industry with the successful log home building business, Eco Log Homes.

Acting as vice chairman of what was known as the Institute for Timber Frame Builders (ITFB) for two years, Slabbert became chairman of the Institute for another four years, during which time the ITFB merged with the Institute for Timber Construction South Africa (ITC-SA), of which he remains a board member. Slabbert is the chairman of the working group of the SANS (South African National Standards) 10082 document at the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), lectures on the subject of timber frame construction at various universities and has presented numerous papers on the subject at various conferences.

Slabbert took to the helm of the well-respected luxury timber frame building company, Rustic Homes, which is based in Cape Town, late in 2016. Eco Log Homes is now owned and run by the very capable Werner Slabbert Jnr.
