Penwell Lunga


Mr Sibusiso Penwell Lunga was born on the 30th July 1975, in a small town called Charlestown in Kwa-Zulu Natal. He completed his matric at Lavela High School in Soweto and went on to pursue a B. Juris Degree and the LLB Degree at the University of Johannesburg. He later obtained the MBA degree and thereafter a Master’s Degree in Strategic Human Resources at the Herriot Watt University.

He started his career in 1997 as a Legal Officer at NEWU and later moved to the CTL Group Services Holdings to take up a Senior HR/Labour Law Consultant position from 2000 to 2001. He was thereafter promoted to the Director in the Labour Law and HR divisions in 2002 to 2005. During this time he assisted clients in the formulation of Employee Relation Strategies, provided them with Human Resource advice, consulting services, and also represented clients in various industry collective bargaining structures. He is currently the Group Stakeholder Relations Executive for Steinhoff Africa, where he is responsible for the management of strategic relationships with various stakeholders including government, industry bodies, trade unions and various local communities affected by the group’s activities.

Mr Lunga also serves as the director of the Road Freight Association, Unitrans Supply Chain Solutions, Steinhoff Sikhulasonke Investments, and of the KAP diversified Industrial group, amongst others.
